2020 Census Ambassador Program

The 2020 Census Ambassador Program will equip individuals with the information needed to serve as Census Ambassadors in their communities.. The Ambassador Program will consist of a 5-hour training that will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the census. It will include a Census 101, overview of the questionnaire, common questions from community members and other pertinent information. The aim of the program is to train knowledgeable messengers who can go out into their communities and inform others about the importance of completing the census. The training will occur on Saturday, February 29 th , 2020 from 10 am to 3 pm. It will take place at 3125 Poplarwood Ct., Raleigh, NC 27604. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited. This opportunity is open to individuals who reside and/or work in Wake County.

After completion of the training, participants will be encouraged to participate at events and inform their community about the importance of census participation. These events can be events organized by community members, organizations or by the Ambassadors themselves. Compensation will be provided for the training and for each event that Ambassadors participate in, up to three events. Compensation will include $25 for transportation to and from the training, $15 for every hour of the training ($75 total), and $50 for each event that participants speak at ($150 for 3 events). If a participant decides to hold their own event, they will be given an additional $50. This does not mean that an additional $50 will be given for each event that they decide to organize, up to three. It is a one-time additional stipend of $50.

These events must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must have a copy of an event sign-in sheet
  • Must take pictures to share on social media
  • The event must be at least an hour long
